Homeless Children

There are approximately 100,000,000, (100 million) homeless children in the world. An exact number is virtually impossible to come up with, but the amount of homeless children is staggering.

HOMELESS CHILDREN IN AMERICA

The problem of homeless children in America has been an ongoing problem and continues to be so.  When we generally think of homelessness; the image which is typically conjured up is one of a male ranging in age from 30 to 60 something, living in the most dire circumstances.  Although homelessness has been an ongoing problem, with the recent economic downturn, the problem has proliferated greatly.

The number of homeless children in America has reached approximately 1.5 million.    According to the National Center of Family Homelessness; 39% consists of children younger than 18, while 40% of homeless children are younger than five.  These statistics are both staggering and heartbreaking, furthermore, these numbers seem to be growing at an alarming rate.

Despite the recent hardship many Americans recently faced as a result of a broken economy; these statistics are unacceptable.  There is no reason we should not be able to collectively put forth the effort to effect change.  It is an utter tragedy for any child to have the burden of worrying about basic needs.  Because the statistics for homeless children in America are so overwhelming; there is a tendency to think the problem is far too big to conquer.  This is a false perception.  There are a litany of successful children’s charities in operation, which first began by serving the needs in their immediate communities at a grass roots level, and grew from that point.  Supporting a children’s charity such as Music 4 Hunger Foundation is a valuable start to one day eradicating the problem of homeless children.

Children’s charities whether art driven or otherwise; provide homeless children with the tools and resources needed for them to become contributing and productive members of society.  Every child deserves to be set up for success, and it is our responsibility to do our part in assuring this end.  Homeless children of today could very well be our leaders of tomorrow.

Music 4 Hunger Foundation is dedicated to help underprivileged and homeless children.
